for Impact
What would you like to know about leading and living an impact-driven, productive, and fulfilling existence in your personal life and career?
I am a veterinarian with over 12 years of interrelated experience in One Health & Animal Welfare programming, research, and nonprofit management. I am the Founder of One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI), a nonprofit organization that works to address correlated issues of human, animal and environmental health using the One Health approach. I acquired my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a Master of Science (MSc) degree from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom.
While I currently consult for the World Health Organization (WHO) in Nigeria supporting One Health, IHR and Global Health Security, I have consulted/managed projects at the African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), Animal Advocacy Africa (AAA), Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW), Education as a Vaccine (EVA), and Forward Africa, among others. Also, I co-founded Healthier Hens, and I am a member of the Board at Family Empowerment Media (FEM), Aquatic Life Institute (ALI) and Home and Street Kids Initiative (HSKI). Furthermore, I have previously worked on investigative media projects on relevant One Health and animal welfare issues with the Internews Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and Code for Africa (CFA) (among others) and published corresponding media reports.
My career work has spanned across a variety of sub-sectors in public health and development space including One Health operationalization, global health security, IHR implementation, preparedness and response to health emergencies, and animal welfare. Through these, I have developed core skills and expertise in project and program management, research, nonprofit management, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis and technical writing.
I am a Fellow of John Hopkins’ 2024 Emerging Leader for Biosecurity Initiative, and an alumnus of the Commonwealth Scholarship, Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation program, and the Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative (CYFI) of the United States Consulate, Nigeria.
During my free time, I do enjoy quality time with family and friends, good home-cooked meals, reading and travelling.
